The various kingdoms of Ranmor function independent of each other, but during the Ranmorian Alliance the various nations agreed on a set of standards to be used throughout the Alliance, to establish better trade and political relationships.

The planet Kitra revolves around its star in an elliptical and cyclical erratic orbit. The planet is also slightly tilted.

This produces not only seasonal weather changes, but also a ten year cycle of colder and warmer years:

This ten year period is divided into three cold years, two mild years, three hot years, and two mild years. (Known as Winter Years, Spring Years, Summer Years, Autumn Years)

Each year consists of 380 days, each equivalent to approximately 30 Earth hours.
